Our classes are small, informative and fun. We hope you will join us in becoming a life-long knitter!

Payment is required at the time of registration. A full refund will be given if cancellation is received 10 days prior to a scheduled class. Materials are not included in the fee, however, all students registered in a class receive a 10% discount on all merchandise except books, patterns and sale items. Students may make up a missed class during the same session, subject to space availability.

Private lessons are available, 1 hour, $25 1 ½ hour, $35.


COURSE DESCRIPTIONS & FEES

Knitting Basics
4 Sessions, $65
Learn the very basics, from casting on to binding off, or work on improving your own knitting skills. The class will learn a variety of stitches while working on a sampler scarf or project of your choice.

Learn to Knit
1 Session, No Charge
Have you ever wanted to learn to knit? In this class the instructor will cover the fundamentals of knitting, including how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off. Materials must be purchased at SheepStreet

Heads Up
3 Sessions, $50
Rolled Brim, Stripes, Fair Isle, Earflaps. Hats are quick and easy to knit. Learn the techniques you need to make the hat of your choice.

Make Some Mittens
3 Sessions, $50
You can learn a lot from a mitten! You will learn to knit in the round with double-pointed needles, read a pattern, work a thumb gusset, and make matching increases and decreases.

Knit Some Socks
3 Sessions, $50
Socks are fun and easy. Learn how to use double-pointed needles, read a pattern and make a basic boot sock. For this class we use a heavy worsted weight yarn on size 7 needles to work up quickly.

Knitting in the Round
2 Sessions, $35
In this class you will make a simple quick knit hat while learning to use circular and double-pointed needles.

Fix It
1 Session, $30
We all make mistakes, but now what? Learn how to pick up a dropped stitch, recognize and correct common mistakes and solve problems before they grow.

Fair Isle Knitting
1 Session, $30
Fair Isle knitting produces beautiful designs using two colors at a time. You will learn to read a chart and work a simple Fair Isle pattern while carrying a different color of yarn in each hand.

Intarsia Knitting
1 Session, $30
Intarsia is the art of knitting color into an isolated section of your work. Learn to eliminate holes, keep tangles to a minimum and read a chart. Work on a simple potholder or project of your choice

Crochet for Knitters
1 Session, $30
Great for knitters who want to branch out. This class covers basic crochet stitches and simple edgings

Math for Knitters
1 Session, $30
Got math phobia? Demystify the math needed for knitting. Learn simple formulas for getting gauge, evenly spacing buttonholes and stitches across the row, and how to go from meters to yards. If time allows, a simple pattern will be modified.

Finishing One-to-One
1 session, 1 ½ hour, $35
Need help getting it all together? The instructor will work with you one-to-one for the perfect finish. You will learn the correct way to assemble your garment including picking-up stitches, finishing buttonholes and seams. Call to schedule an appointment.

Intro to Cables
1 Session, $30
In this session you will learn how to read a chart and knit a basic cable, a braided cable and a diamond cable.

Lace Knitting
1 Session, $30
In this class you will learn how to read charts, follow a pattern and combine yarnovers and decreases to create beautiful lace.

Felted Bags
3 Sessions, $50
Double-pointed needles, felting - welting, I-cords. In this class you will learn the techniques necessary to complete the felted bag of your choice.

Continental Knitting
2 Sessions, $40
Learn how to knit and purl by carrying the yarn in your left hand. This technique is considered to be faster and more efficient than the English method. Ribbing and color work are much easier. It can also help alleviate strain since you will be able to work with either hand.

Hats for Homeless
1 Session, $10
Help make someone warm this winter. Join us to knit a simple hat for the homeless. Yarn, pattern and refreshments will be provided. Please bring size 9 needles, 16” circular and double pointed. If you prefer straight needles you will need to sew the seam.

Got Gauge?
1 session, $30
You MUST make a gauge swatch. Learn how and why, as well as how to make the necessary adjustments to get the proper gauge for your garment.

Cast-on, Bind-off
1 Session, $30
There is more than one way to cast-on and bind-off. In this workshop you will learn the different methods and when and why you will want to use them

Top Down
4 Sessions, $65
No Finishing required (or at least minimal). In this class you will knit a sweater in one piece from the neck down. Choose from a variety of patterns.

Modular Knitting
1 Session, $30
Make an interesting scarf by knitting in continuous modules without having to cut yarn or pick up stitches

Socks on 2 Circular Needles
1 Session, $30
Find those double-pointed needles awkward? Based on the curious technique by Cat Bordhi, you will learn this fun method for knitting socks using two circular needles.

Stitch and Chat
1 Session, $15
Stuck on a project, need help with a pattern, want to learn a new technique, but can’t commit to a class? Or just want to relax and enjoy the company of other knitters for a few hours a week? Join us on Monday mornings where an instructor will be available to answer all of your questions.

Aran Afghan Class
1 Session, $20
Make a beautiful family heirloom. Work with cables and intricate patterns on the Great American Aran Afghan. Please register in advance for each session.

Let's Crochet
3 Sessions, $50
This class will cover the basic stitches plus granny squares, pattern reading and more.

The Perfect Finish
1 session, $40
Handmade vs. Homemade – learn all you need to know for a perfect finish, including seams, picking up stitches, buttonholes and blocking.
